Troop Leadership Training is a training program run by the Youth and Adult Leadership that is designed to introduce Scouts to our Leadership Positions and how to apply the Patrol Method in a Scout Troop. It is usually run during the first campout of the year.
Troop 65 traditionally hosts a Thanksgiving Feast dinner during their November campout. The Feast features activities on Saturday for local Webelos Scouts with an overnight camping opportunity. For dinner the boys prepare a full Thanksgiving meal including 4 turkeys prepared in a variety of ways!
For our December campout the Troop normally hosts an activity on Saturday afternoon followed by a 'lock-in' at the Scout Hall Saturday night. Video and board games are played until all hours of the night!
January is winter camping and scoutcraft time! The Troop competes in our District Klondike event in January.
Spring time is for our Iron Scout campout where the patrols (and sometimes other Troops join us as well) show off their cooking skills and compete for the coveted Golden Skillet Award!
Every summer the Troop spends one week at a Boy Scouts of America’s National Camp Accreditation Program (NCAP) accredited summer camp. Summer camp is for our boys to have fun and earn advancements. Swimming, Firearms, Archery and more fill our days with fun and learning.
Troop 65 conducts a High Adventure trip in even numbered years. A high-adventure experience includes several days of trekking in wilderness and other rugged, remote locations. To participate scouts must be 14 years of age and have achieved the rank of First Class.
For scouts that do not qualify for the High Adventure trip, we also conduct a Low Adventure trip. Low Adventure usually involves activities more age/ability appropriate for younger scouts.
In odd numbered years the Troop hosts a Travel Tour where we travel to new destinations and sight-see while camping and enjoying fellowship.
